      Fabulous pattern as always

I just finished my first Leo shirt and have cut out a new one. I got a bit confused around the plackets and had a few accidental sewing on the wrong side but I’m so happy with how it turned out. I made a few small mods where I flat felled most of my internal seams as I don’t have an overlocker so didn’t want the internal messiness that came from zig zag. I added an extra button as I thought it worked better but it’s so flowy it wouldn’t have made much difference. I sized up because of my bust measurement so losing a small amount of internal space from the back for my felled seams wasn’t a deal breaker. I also interfaced my pockets as the fabric was so loose woven I needed the structure.

The pale fabric in the photos can make it a little hard to see on some of the trickier instructions but a few good reads and a little unpicking and I was fine.

I love this shirt and always feel like I learn from every pattern Bella makes! I’ve cut out a white poplin version and I’ll be making up another one in white linen as soon as I can

      Beyond Impressed

Bella Loves is by far the most comprehensive pattern I’ve dealt with. I’m a novice sewer who was looking for more of a challenge. This pattern hit the mark. The instructions were so clear and the shirt actually turned out gorgeously (wish I would have used a different fabric but that isn’t Bella’s fault)

      Top likes:
Her instructions for using bias around the hem
The attention to detail in every single step

      Cons:
I feel like she could have used a fabric with a contrasting back side. I really struggled with the sleeve plackets … but that could have been due to my inexperience

Note: I added the bias to right side of the back shirt for more character. I also added some floral for the sleeve plackets and under collar

      Best shirt pattern I've sewn!

Bella's drafting is always excellent and the fit of the shirt is just perfect. I always learn something new from Bella's instructions and this pattern was no exception, I don't think I've ever sewn a better collar! Love my finished shirt, thanks again Bella!
