Oh no I have another repeater in my pattern collection!!!!

I was looking for a dupe sewing pattern for a Carolina Herrera short, drop sleeve, button up shirt with a collar, yoke and back pleat. The Rosie Shirt is similar in silhouette but with a camp collar. I didn't know how much I would love to sew this pattern and I am already on the hunt in my fabric stash and online to make several more for workwear. Although the instructions don't tell you to do this (or maybe they do), I would stay stitch/stabilize your pattern pieces because you will be handling them a lot and they could easily stretch out. I appreciated how Bella includes precise measurements to use and tells you to use a ruler and chalk to mark seam allowances for accuracy. The pattern instructions confused me but I think that is because I was learning a new way of sewing a camp collar shirt so I had to frequently go back and forth between the YouTube.com tutorial and booklet. There are also more steps to making this shirt than I am used to in other basic shirt patterns. But once you figure things out, you will realize the struggle was both real and worth it. I adore the clean finishes of this shirt. I love the shape of the collar. The drafting is excellent and at least for my body shape, the size chart is accurate. I am 5'6" with a short torso, pear-shaped and my measurements are upper bust = 39", bust = 43.5", waist = 36" and hip = 46". I traced a size 18 (group 2) for the shoulders, bust and waist and then graded out from the size 18 waist to the size 22 hip. I will be tucking the shirt in my bottoms so I wasn't worried about the pooling around my back because of my bottom. Although I am larger than a B sewing cup, I did not do a full bust adjustment because there is enough ease in the pattern which is included in the instructions. My only disappointment (small one) is that I can see my bra through the armhole so I will have to be mindful of that. Since I am not yet comfortable sewing with slippery fabrics, I used a dark green and off white polka dot rayon linen and I think that fabric had enough drape for this shirt. It doesn't look stiff at all. After I make several more of these shirts for the spring/summer, I will try Bella's shirt dress. I am at the top of the size chart so I hope that one will work for me. If not, I guess I will learn how to grade up! I highly recommend this pattern because it is stylish, enjoyable to sew and you may learn a few new techniques like i did.

Satisfying Make

I enjoyed sewing the blouse very much and learned a lot. So far I only sewed the muslin from black viscose. I didn't have to change anything and it fits well and is comfortable to wear. The instructions are very thorough but sewing the collar was a bit tricky. The sew along video on YouTube was helpful too. Thank you for the well made pattern and I appreciate the beamer-friendly layered PDF!

You won't regret sewing this stylish shirt! Sew it!

Like the previous reviewer, I was a bit taken aback by the one negative review regarding the Rosie shirt. It is absolutely not deserved . If the sewer had issues with the pattern she should either watched the video or contacted Bella or both.
I can't say enough about Bella's patterns: the instructions are clear, very detailed and precise. I followed the companion video - which was helpful and I recommended it especially when attaching the collar. I was thrilled with the result (my collar was almost perfect and far better than anything I had tried before) and I can't wait to make another one to add to my spring summer wardrobe. The shirt in the photo below is a printed 100% silk fabric I found in Paris. It has a nice weight-not too flimsy. Silk can be a bit tricky to cut out, but once you piece together, it sews beautifully.
Not only does Bella have great patterns, but I learned a few skills to add to my repertoire. I have been sewing for decades, and what a pleasure to find this jewel in the personnel sewing domaine. Thank you Bella. You are a delight!
