Introducing the Mel Vest

Mel is finally here.

This is the first pattern I’ve released in quite a while, and it feels especially special because I actually began working on it just before I became pregnant. After taking some time away from pattern work to have my baby, it feels really lovely to come back with a design that had already been in progress for so long.

Mel is a fully lined vest with a clean, tailored finish and carefully considered construction details. It features shaped seams through the body, a button front, welt pockets and a bagged-out lining for a polished finish inside as well as out.

I’ve also created some extra support for the more technical parts of the construction. A video showing how to sew and bag out the armholes will be available with the pattern, and a detailed welt-pocket tutorial will follow in the next few weeks.

There is also an optional lined patch pocket variation. This version uses a floating patch pocket with no visible topstitching around the outer edge. It comes with its own PDF instructions as well as a video tutorial.

The patch pocket is an extra variation rather than part of the standard Mel pattern, but if you purchase Mel, you’ll find the additional pocket pattern pieces in your pattern library alongside the main pattern files.

To celebrate the launch, Mel is 35% off from 11–17 October. No code needed — the sale price is already applied.

I’m very happy to finally be releasing Mel, and very happy to be making patterns again.
